You can do short range silent 'sniping' with the nanoblade aug, or more long ranged silent sniping with the tranq rifles. It's just not a good trade, and the silencer is an overrated attachment. If you were using the lancer, you get off one shot for every 4 sniper shots. Bam bam bam, 5 cops dead in 5 seconds with the sniper rifle.
Just hold a corner and pick them off as they rush you. The city streets themselves are great sniper arenas. Very economical, as long as you're a good shot. If you're not gonna put in all the points, combat rifle just makes more sense.ĭue to the combat rifle being a regular longarm, having all the attachments, and ammo being everywhere, you don't need to carry other weapons alongside it. I find the lancer to be a good gun when fighting metro cops, because even silenced, a body shot from very far out will kill blue armor cops, and since I have the cybernetic weapon handling augs, it works out fine. Lancer, like the devastator, côte d'Azur, grenade launcher, and tactical shotgun, is a specialized support weapon. Guns in MD can be split into sidearms, long arms, and support. Since all AP ammo kills all enemies with a headshot, if you're a good shot, the combat rifle is a much more flexible choice. If you're ever in doubt that someone's out of range, lining up a shot on them will highlight the crosshairs red if you're in range and have a shot. The draw distance of the combat rifle is actually longer than you can see in that map before fog starts obscuring the enemies. It has more than enough range to kill them.
